SOLVED. The answer is probably not, but I'd like to understand what's going on. I was a resident for 90 days this year in California, and moved away. I followed all of the instructions and filled out the 540NR Schedule (540nr-ca) which brought my total California taxable income down to 86k. Fine, now here is where it gets weird.
