Ithaca 37 short barrel

April 2004 edited April 2004. I have a chance to buy an Ithaca Deerslayer barrel which is marked Ithaca Model 87. Will this fit my Model 37. My 37 is the newer model without the serialized barrel. I'm sure this has been asked before on this forum, but I can't get the "search" function to work.

I've owned a model 37 Ithaca for about 45 years, and it came with a full choked barrel from the factory. I always thought it was kind of weird that a gun called a "Featherlight" would have such a choke. I would think of a "Featherlight" as an upland bird gun suited for quail doves and the occasional pheasant, but not so much a duck or turkey ...Appreciate any info. on this 37 12 ga. High 90's condition and serial number dates it to 1970. 28" VR mod barrel. I know very,very little about Ithaca's and haven't been successful in searching the web.
