The Horse Raider is VERY underrated, a large group of them can decimate enemy infantry or hold their own against cavalry, especially if you have a high throwing skill and assign yourself as leader of the group. Had the most success with roughly 2/4 heavy spearmen, 1/4 archers, and 1/4 cav.

Legionnaires are the best infantry, slightly better the Sturgian heavy axemen, these 2 are far better than all others, when it comes to shielded troops. Tip: Elite Cataphracts and Druzhinik champions are Cavalry units and also very good at close combat on foot, they are close to Legionnaires and Axemen as infantry unit.

My wildlings seem to do very well in sieges. Spear, axe, plus javelin sniping, and a very big shield with better body armor then even the trained spearman, and to top it off quick movement speed. Sturgian veteran warriors are probably pretty good. t5 crossbowmen are great at sniping enemy archers.

Once you have instructed a specific amount of units to retreat from the battlefield by pressing F7, you won't be able to bring them back into the battle. If you wanit units to leave the main battle for a short period of time, use the Fallback movement command by pressing F1 and then F5.
